MILPA Garden Program

The milpa technique originated in Central America where the Mayans used a mixture of corn, squash, and beans to improve the soil and grow food. To increase the spread of milpa gardening while increasing soil and community health, we offer a program which provides an acre’s worth of MILPA Garden Seed Mix for free. The only requirement is that the grower agrees to donate 70% of their harvest to a local food bank or charity.

Interested in donating a MILPA Garden?

You don’t need an acre of land to make an impact on community and soil health. Through our new MILPA Garden pay-it-forward program, you can purchase seed that we’ll pass on to a grower committed to the MILPA Garden Program.

1. Signup

We just need a few details from you like your name and contact info. We’ll also ask if you agree to donate at least 70% of your harvestable crop to a charity of your choice. It’s a win/win for everyone!

Once you’re finished we’ll email you your own special coupon code!

2. Purchase

Head on over to the MILPA Garden product page, select your quantity and add to cart. In the checkout, enter your personal coupon code and shazam! Free seed!

3. Plant

One of our favorite things about a MILPA Garden is how easy it is to plant! Just open the bag, scatter the seed and gather the produce. If you’re still not sure about specifics, feel free to give us a call and one of our Cover Crop experts will be happy to help you.

4. Share

The best part about our MILA Garden program is the encouraged spirit of charity and giving. We’re not here to be big brother to ensure 70% of your produce is donated, but we hope you do the right thing.
